A warning that George Orwell has issued in the novel, ‘Nineteen Eighty Four’ to the people of the future is the invasion of privacy. This is a dystopian as he develops a world of corruption which possibly an imaginary character named Big Brother Orwell’s novel he creates a world where you can even blink with out being monitored. Subconsciously we have created this world today through forms of multi national company’s all the way to small things like surveillance cameras. The first of three ways that Orwell presents his warning is when he creates a man with a facial tic showing that you can not lie in a world like this because people will eventually find out. The second way is through a room that the love party uses called room 101. The third way..

The first of the ways Orwell confronts his warning of the invasion of privacy to future readers is when George quotes, “It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself – anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide.” During the stage when this quote was said there was a man walking down an alleyway with a facial tic. The fear that Big Brother confronts to his citizens through Tele Screens, bill boards and through the parties is insane. It makes people under his control vulnerable if you were to commit a thought crime or break any rule because you know you will get vaporised. Orwell gives us a warning through this scene that the more surveillance there is the harder it is to keep a secret. Now days there is what we call secrurity cameras all over the world in every possible place you can think of us watching us. I can make this relation between Tele screens and security cameras.

The second way the Orwell confronts us with the warning of the invasion of privacy is through a room which Orwell calls ‘room 101’. O’Brien who is a character that Orwell has created quotes, “Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world”. The idea of room 101 is that the party breaks down the prisoners resistance in hoping to subject them to there own worst nightmare. Once you have found somebody’s worst fear you have the ability to control their life. Knowing someone’s darkest secrets and fears is something that large social media companies can do. With all the snapchats you send they can see everything you say and have more power than the government.

  1. In the draft at this point, your ideas are developing and you have understood the intention of the question. The areas for attention lie with the writing aspect of this piece:

    1) You must set up the article a lot more thoroughly in the introduction. Your reader should be able to get a clear sense of the ideas you’re examining – the fact that you’ve decided to pick up on a warning issued by George Orwell in and explore this in relation to the world today. This needs context. What is Nineteen Eighty-Four? What kind of text? What effect has it had on the world or you as a reader? Why would it make sense to make parallels between it and today?

    2) To make your writing compelling, it’s important to use active verbs and a variety of sentence structures – some to explore nuances (complex sentences) and some to hammer points home.

    3) Explore the use of figurative language in your own writing to help illuminate (that’s a metaphor) the ideas you’re expressing.

  2. Not Achieved

You stretch a single point across the introduction and first paragraph – and then make a second point in a following paragraph. There is no conclusion to this piece and a lack of reference to accurate detail. It is also incomplete, with no conclusion.
